En el séptimo aniversario de la llegada de los primeros presos al centro de detención de Guantánamo, Amnistía Internacional se ha concentrado frente a la Embajada de Estados Unidos en Madrid.
Bajo los lemas: “Bye Guantánamo” y “Cómo cuándo”, los activistas de la organización han pedido el cierre de este símbolo de la “guerra contra el terror”.

It was a VERY cold afternoon in central Bern on Saturday, January 10, when 30 activists took turns kneeling in one of the gray prisoner cages; to representing one of the Gitmo prisoners in orange chained to a column at the entrance to the railway station, holding a sign with name and fate of selected prisoners; to approaching people and asking them to sign our postcard to Obama and a letter taking up the recent urgent action for Omar Khadr.

Our action in Helsinki went really, really well!! We got over 550 names on the petition-boilersuit and people were very interested in the cage and the topic. Finnish media did lots of coverage and we will be featured on the evening news of virtually every TV channel tonight.

We had our public action today in front of the US Embassy in Lima. 25 activists participated. We read three poems from Poems from Guantanamo.
We received media coverage from a national newspaper, a national TV channel, and from the agencies Reuters, Associated Press and EFE.
