There were 12 media correspondents present at the press conference. These included Editions le Pays (newspaper), l’Evênement (newspaper), Radio Ouaga FM,Canal 3 (TV), and Sidwaya (state run newspaper).

During the press conference, a lot of questions were raised such as what kind of lobbying action Amnesty International was thinking of doing in order to lead Gambia to comply with its human rights obligations.
In addition, AI Burkina’s active members expressed symbolically their support for Gambian citizens by calling Gambia for more justice and freedom. They took a picture representing these two words in order to echo the “Day of freedom” celebrated on 22 July by President Yahya Jammeh.

Actually, we are aware of the cases in Burma or Iran (because they are always on
tv. However, we don’t know much about such catastrophes in Africa except some notorious
ones like Rwanda or Sierra Lion cases. So I think the roles of the press quite important to let us know more about them and help them.
I would be very interested in learning more about the need for justice and freedom in Gambia. I post articles, news, and information about these issues on my website. My goal is helping to turn “indifference into making a difference” through awareness and education.
