Salil Shetty is absolutely correct, though I think it may be that we’ve had brief periods in history when leadership improved, and we’ve been in a low period. Perhaps what we have now is a knowledge deficit – which is a threat internationally given the state of information technology. Our under-educated voters are easily manipulated – at the click of a ‘send’ button.
