These photos were taken during a mission to the west of Cote d’Ivoire in Duekoue.
‘Mariame’ and her husband (identities to be protected) were attacked by armed Dozo militia. Their four year old son was shot dead and their 12 year old daughter was shot in the head. She still has two bullets lodged in her head. Mariame was raped in front of her children.
